Finding Strength in Weakness

“When I am weak, then I am strong…” 2 Corinthians 12:10

Life is full of many ups and downs. There are times when we all find ourselves weak and asking why. None of us are exempt from troubles, trials, tribulations and temptations. Jesus had His fair share of troubles and trials in His life. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to know that in the midst of life’s problems we have hope for a brighter day?

The early Christian church at Corinth thought in similar ways. Many believed that strength and weakness are opposites.  In our common way of thinking they are. Nevertheless, we are encouraged by Paul in Ephesians “to be strong in the power of God’s might.” Sometimes there are situations that arise in our lives that cause us to feel vulnerable and weak. Even the best of us encounter difficulties that cause us to question our own ability to succeed. We give in to temptations and our trials and tribulations overwhelm us.

Perhaps you have received troubling news today or are facing a difficult situation and you don’t know what to do. I encourage you to rest in the Lord. During this time of weakness God is able to strengthen you if you delight yourself in Him.

Why not give Him your burdens. We sometimes sing, “Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there.”  Try taking your burdens to Christ. He died on the cross for your deliverance. If you want to find strength in weakness, turn to Jesus who is the “author and finisher of our faith.”

Prayer

Loving God, be with us in our work, worship and play.
Help us to find strength when we are weak.
When the way seems unbearable,

bless us to know that you will give us peace
in the midst of our storms.

Amen.
