Cub Scouts

We hold what is believed to be the oldest Boy Scout Charter west of the Alleghenies.  Cub Pack 39 and Scout Troop 39 house their supplies and equipment in the church and hold many of their meetings and events here.

Pack 39 is a thriving organization, with nearly 65 boys and their families participating. They have a large group of older boys (known as “Webelos 2”) who are ready to go on to Boy Scouts, and so the Pack leaders have restarted Boy Scout Troop 39 here at First Baptist Church.  The boy scout troop had been defunct for a number of years, and its reformation is an exciting and wonderful development. The proceeds from our March 22, 2009 Organ Concert went to benefit the new Boy Scout Troop 39.

On Saturday, February 21, 2009, Cub Scout Pack 39 held it annual Blue and Gold Banquet at Ogden Avenue School in LaGrange. Pack 39 is chartered by First Baptist Church, and T.J. Litwiler represented our congregation at the banquet. He was presented with the 2009 charters to First Baptist Church for both Cub Scout Pack 39 and the rechartered Boy Scout Troop 39. The charters were presented by Ms. Grazina Vizinas, the local Unit Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America.

Cal Rickerd is our church’s scout liaison. Please pray for both Pack 39 and Troop 39 as they work with the young men of our community.

Saint Francis Xavier School

A portion of our educational wing is rented by Saint Francis Xavier Day School. This functions as SFX’s East Campus and serves children in preschool, kindergarten and first grade.
